A FAMILY OF HOUSE CHURCHES
GROWING TOGETHER IN THE WAY OF JESUS
Canopy was born when a collection of families began to prioritize the life of the Church around the meal table. Meeting in a single house, these families began to practice sharing meals, sharing their hearts and devoting themselves to the life and teaching of Jesus with the hope of seeing their neighbors and neighborhoods changed.
One house became two houses. Two houses became three. And now we are on the verge of multiplying even more houses and to more cities within the coming months. We are a growing community from a variety of life-stages and backgrounds convinced that the life and family that Jesus invites us into is abundant and fulfilling, and capable of renewing the world.
As a church family committed to sharing life together, we are primarily oriented around House Churches. To keep these house gatherings central part of our church, we meet in a three-week rhythm: gathering in House Churches back-to-back Sundays and then meeting All-together the third Sunday for worship, the hearing of the word through preaching, and sharing stories of what God is doing in and through our houses.
Our House Churches
In these gatherings, we share a meal, worship together, read scripture, pray for one another, and grow in intimacy as a community of Jesus followers. House Church is a place to be known and to participate in being the Church.
“They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles. All the believers were together and had everything in common. They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.” Acts 2:42-47
